I finally

accomplished something! LOL I had made several string pieced blocks with bright scraps a while back and I finally got them put together. I will be bordering this in white and it will be a small baby quilt for a girl at work who just announced her pregnancy. At least thats the plan right now. I am thinking I might back it with a bright colored minky and just tie it instead of quilting it. I haven't decided yet.
As you can see the official quilt inspector is back on the job. I swear she is making up for lost time, lol.

I also made this blanket to donate at church. They put together gift baskets for members of the congregation who have new babies. I love this animal fabric.

I just found out, too that the lady who bought both of the outfits that I sent to Associated Sewing is going to display them in their booth at the state fair this fall. That is kind of exciting for me!

Free at last... free at last!

Thank God Almighty, I'm free at last! That is how our little Aeris must have been feeling Tuesday. LOL She had her feeding tube removed and has been give a clean bill of health! She still has a rawish wound on her neck where the tube went into her esophagus, but she is feisty and rearing to go. Back up to all her old tricks, and maybe even a few new ones. :) She's been eating like a horse and too busy to keep up with.

In other news:
I had my wisdom teeth out on Friday. It went pretty well and I am healing up pretty well. My stomach and anesthesia are, however, not good friends. Not good at all... Bleh!

My "blossoms and bubble gum" outfit sold this week, so that was exciting!

I am still trying to finish the scrap quilt top. Aeris seems to just want to sit in the middle of my sewing. She parks herself on the ironing board every time I try to sew. Since she has been so sick, well, I have a hard time making her get down since all she wants is to be close to me. She's gotten a little spoiled.

Thanks to all of you who wished our kitty well and kept her in your prayers! She is doing great now!

In a bit of a funk...

creatively speaking. Do you ever have about eight zillion WIPs and can't seem to find the motivation to finish any of them, and nothing new sounds fun either? Everything I think about trying seems like it will take more brain power than I want to exert at the moment. I've taken several days off from sewing, and it doesn't seem to be getting any better. I'm bored with all of my projects, I am bored with the internet and I just can't seem to find the desire to do much of anything in the way of sewing. What do you do to get yourself out of those situations? Here are the blocks for the latest scrap quilt I started.

I played Lego Star Wars (star wars) with my husband last night, which is HIGHLY unusual. I thought maybe a change of pace would be good. It was kind of fun, but lets just say, I'm sure he'd rather play with someone else. I am really bad at video games. I couldn't jump on to this one thing to save my life, and the pod race, well, let's just say that he wound up taking the controller away from me and finishing it by himself or we would have been stuck there all night. Video games are NOT my forte.

I think I'll plant a new plant in my flower bed this evening. My MIL gave me some sedum. Here are a few pix I took of what is blooming in my yard right now.

But our citizenship is in heaven...

How oddly appropriate the verse of the day is today.
“But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,” Phil. 3:20
My sister sent me an email last night. In that email she told me about a little boy who passed away Thursday evening. His name was Dalton Wallace, he was 11 and an FA patient. Dalton was a brave boy who fought this disease with all he had. Ultimately, God chose to save him from the pain and struggle of this disease and took him home to heaven. You can read about him a little more here. Please take a moment to pray for his family, I'm sure that they would appreciate it. I didn't know Dalton or his family personally, but in the world of FA, there is a feeling of a common bond with other families affected by this disease. Dalton's passing brings it once again to the forefront of my mind and brings the urgency of finding a cure that much more into focus. It is so very critical.

Good Mail Day :)

An unbelievably sweet anonymous person that I know from a forum sent me this in the mail today. I haven't added a new doll to my collection for a couple of years. This one is exceptionally special because she looks just like my niece Allison did when she was little. I am completely humbled and overwhelmed by the generosity that some people have and very touched to have received this gift.

Were Baaack!

Thanks for all of your concern for our little kitty. I am happy to report that she is doing MUCH better. She has really bounced back over the last week. She has now kept down all of her meals for almost a week straight as well as has begun to do this...

It has certainly been a wild ride, I'll say that for sure! One night in the middle of the night we lost her cap for her tube and had so clamp her off with one of those black clamp type paper clips for a few hours. Saturday somehow or another she managed to pull the tube free from the bandage and it was dangling to the side of her neck, so we had to go and have her re-bandaged. She is incredibly needy for attention these days and I find it hard to get anything accomplished. Every time I am still for a few minutes she is all over me wanting attention and she is very persistent about it. Its to the point where if I try to put her down, I have to untangle claws from whatever I am wearing because she won't let go. LOL She is back to a lot of her old tricks and when she goes in for her blood tests tomorrow I'm sure that they will show a great amount of improvement. We are definitely looking forward to the day when the feeding tube is a thing of the past. Hopefully that will be soon.

I did manage to get a little bit of sewing time this weekend. Kitty does sleep occasionally. :) I started a new scrap quilt. I'll try to post pictures of it when I get the chance. Hopefully I'll be able to get back to blogging and sewing on a more regular basis now that the kitty is well on the mend.

Have a great Monday!

How would you....

quilt this quilt?

a) meander
b) in the ditch
c) in a different pattern, if so what?
